Facebook has launched a new tool to make it easier for users to call for charitable donations on the platform and share the causes they support with each other.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced at the Facebook Social Good Forum in New York that service would be offered free of charge and that all proceeds would go directly to recipients, German news agency (dpa) reported.
The social media platform's "donate" button is being presented as a quick and uncomplicated way to raise money.
New interfaces will enable charitable organizations to easily synchronize donations with Facebook.
Disaster management organizations will have direct access to the public data on Facebook.
Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, are engaged in philanthropy and he intends to donate a large part of his fortune to charity over the course of his life.
