During the second day of his official visit to Lebanon, envoy of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Advisor at the Royal Court Nizar al-Aloula said on Tuesday that the Kingdom will do everything to serve the interest of Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri will arrive in Riyadh on Wednesday to meet with the King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.
Ministerial sources from Hariri’s Future Movement told Asharq Al-Awsat that the premier’s talks will focus on Lebanese-Saudi relation.
Hariri’s talks in the Kingdom will also stress the need to ensure the success of the upcoming Rome and Paris IV meetings, the sources added.
The Saudi envoy left Beirut on Tuesday after meeting with Speaker Nabih Berri, former presidents Michel Suleiman and Amin Gemayel, head of the Phalange Party MP Sami Gemayel, and Sunni leaders, including former prime ministers Tammam Salam, Najib Miqati and Fouad Saniora, in addition to head of the National Liberal Party, MP Dory Chamoun.
Following his meeting with Berri, al-Aloula said: "The speaker is a national figure who spreads hope and optimism in Lebanon.”
For his part, Berri described his talks with the Saudi envoy as "friendly,” hoping to hold other meetings in the future.
Suleiman meanwhile denied claims that he discussed the upcoming parliamentary elections during his meeting with the Saudi official.
Commenting on whether the visit could open a new chapter in Saudi-Lebanese relations, Suleiman said: “Based on our talks, it seems there are serious attempts to revive those ties.”
