Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz received in Riyadh on Wednesday President of the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, reported the Saudi Press Agency.
Discussions focused on the role religion and culture can play in deterring violence, extremism and terrorism and achieving security and stability in the world.
The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir and Secretary General of the Muslim World League Dr. Mohammed Abdulkarim al-Issa.
The king also received at Al-Yamamah Palace the Chairman of NATO's Partnerships Subcommittee Mateen Lutfi, accompanied by a number of heads of parliamentary delegations in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
During the meeting, NATO parliamentary efforts and bilateral cooperation areas between NATO's Sub-Committee and the Shura Council were reviewed, SPA said.
The meeting was attended by the Interior Minister, Shura Council Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh, the Foreign Minister, and a number of officials, the agency added.
