The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen has succeeded in releasing Salah and Madian, sons of slain former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, from the clutches of the Iran-backed Houthi militias, reported the Saudi Press Agency.
Their release was delayed by five days after the Houthis did not allow a United Nations chartered plane, that was to transport, them from landing at Sanaa airport.
Official sources revealed that a Saudi team had inspected on Wednesday morning a UN Airbus A320, which had landed at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, Jordan.
The plane departed to Sanaa to transport Salah and Madian before returning to Amman.
A Jordanian official confirmed Saleh's two sons had arrived in Amman from Sanaa, where their plane was due to stay for one hour.
"It will go towards a third country," the official said in a statement, without detailing the plane's final destination. "The two sons will not enter Amman."
The Houthis had been allied with Saleh for three years when a political dispute erupted, with mutual accusations of treason leading to armed clashes in the capital and ultimately the ex-president's death at the hands of the militias in December 2017.
The Houthis are still holding relatives of Ali Abdallah Saleh, including one of his nephews.
