Saudi Arabia signed on Thursday a cooperation agreement with Indonesia for the resumption of recruitment of domestic workers following a two-year suspension.

Saudi Minister of Labor and Social Development Ahmad al-Rajhi and Indonesian Minister of Manpower and Immigration Muhammad Hanif Dhakiri signed the agreement.

The first phase of the deal includes more than 30,000 visas.

The two ministries launched the one-channel system to recruit Indonesian workers on the sidelines of the agreement between the two countries.

It is a unified e-system agreed upon by the two parties in order to facilitate and expedite the procedures of sending and bringing home workers and safeguarding the rights of contracting parties.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajhi highlighted the Kingdom’s close relations with Indonesia and stressed the importance of cooperation and coordination in further enhancing bilateral interests.

“The future of labor relations between the Kingdom and Indonesia will be a promising one, based on solid foundations, and we look forward to developing this relationship through more efforts and coordination,” he said.

The minister added that the signing of the agreement is the result of the fruitful bilateral relations that comes within the framework of the protection of rights and regulating the relations between workers and employers in accordance with the laws and regulations prevailing in both countries, as well as with international conventions and treaties.

"It is also an effective step in the continuation of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields of work,” he stressed.

Saudi Arabia will host the 39th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) on Thursday via videoconference under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The conference, organized by the Shura Council and AIPU, will bring together speakers of Arab parliaments and legislative councils, as well as delegates from several organizations.

Speaker of the Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh expressed his appreciation for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' patronage of the conference. He said the support reflects the commitment of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to strengthening joint Arab cooperation and highlighting the role of Arab solidarity in supporting regional security and stability.

He also underscored the Kingdom's commitment to advancing development and prosperity across the Arab world.

"Joint Arab action represents a fundamental pillar for addressing current challenges and an important basis for unifying positions and coordinating parliamentary efforts," Al Al-Sheikh said.

He added that such efforts contribute to enhancing stability, protecting shared Arab interests, promoting the role of parliaments in supporting development efforts, and consolidating the values of dialogue and integration among Arab states.

Al Al-Sheikh said the Shura Council looks forward to welcoming participants to the conference and expressed hope that its outcomes will support joint Arab parliamentary action and strengthen parliamentary diplomacy as an effective tool for advancing Arab causes in the region and the world.

The central kitchen affiliated with King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) distributed 25,000 hot meals on Saturday to the most vulnerable groups in central and southern Gaza Strip.

The gesture is part of the Saudi public campaign to provide relief to the Palestinian people. The initiative benefited 25,000 individuals.

These efforts are a continuation of the humanitarian role by the Kingdom, through KSrelief, to ease the suffering of the Palestinian people and support affected families amid the current humanitarian crisis.
