Moroccan Prime Minister Saadeddine al-Othmani promised to continue to implement various social programs to improve the living conditions of the people.
The government has taken “bold and unprecedented” measures to reinforce the social protection of the poor, as well as mid-class, he said during a speech before the monthly accountability session of the parliament.
Othmani noted that the government was keen in the 2019 fiscal law project to adopt a package of measures and procedures aimed at continuing social support in the fields of education and health, facilitating access to adequate housing and eradicating social differences in rural regions.
He highlighted that his government places great importance on social sectors, whether in dedicating necessary financial resources or introducing structural reforms and general policies that fulfill the people’s needs.
In this context, Othmani noted that a unified social record will be created to identify people qualified to benefit from social programs.
The PM revealed that the government intends to organize a national debate for social protection on November 12-13 to adopt a national strategy for a unified comprehensive social policy.
He noted that the work-plan of developing a social protection system is based on drafting this social protection policy, setting a basic health coverage system, addressing residents in unstable conditions and developing social services.
