The leader of the Iraqi National Alliance for Reform and Reconstruction, Ammar Al-Hakim, has warned of the unwise policies that could put Iraq in international isolation, stressing the importance of protecting the political accomplishments on the regional and international levels.
Hakim warnings followed statements of General Yahya Rahim Safavi, a military adviser to Supreme Guide Ali Khamenei. Safavi stated Saturday that the war in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen has brought destruction but also led to the spread of resistance represented in Palestine, Hezbollah (Lebanon), and the governments of Syria and Iraq.
This is the clearest standpoint from the biggest Iraqi coalition on the aggravating crisis since months between the US and Iran, according to observers. The coalition consists of Sadr's Saairun Alliance, Haider al-Abadi's Victory Alliance, and Hakim's National Wisdom Movement.
In his statement, Hakim stated that the concept of openness and international communication requires national solidarity from all parties, stressing that the Iraqi’s interest demands to tighten the relations with fraternal countries, Arab and Islamic neighborhood, and the international community.
A source, who asked to remain anonymous, said that the leaders of Iraqi National Alliance for Reform and Reconstruction back the independence of Iraq and its impartiality of any regional conflict, and agree that decades of wars and destruction in Iraq were the result of interference in the affairs of others, both by the governments of Iraq before 2003 or by the countries of the region and international forces.
The source added that the provocative statements of some Iranian officials have become familiar. Days ago, Iranian President Hassan Rowhani confessed to Iran's involvement in Iraq and the influence it enjoyed in the region, he added.
