Hundreds of Yemeni families in Hajjah province, in the northwest of Yemen, started to benefit from the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) in the electricity and energy sector.

This follows the completion of the electricity infrastructure project in the province – which aims to increase production and raise the total of beneficiaries.

In April 2019, the project announced inaugurating several plans spanning the sectors of agriculture, water, fish wealth, electricity and health.

Hajjah is one of the most Yemeni provinces in need of services' projects in various development sectors.

SDRPY Engineer Ahmed Almedkhali said that the electrical infrastructure project is one of the program's other projects. SDRPY seeks to implement various plans to back sectors such as agriculture, water fish wealth, and health.

He affirmed that work is ongoing in certain projects, and more are upcoming in vital sectors.

Almedkhali expressed delight for launching the project, noting that its completion in a short time is a success given the dire need of the population. The engineer clarified that SDRPY inaugurated in April a bunch of 11 key projects.

The inauguration in Hajjah encompassed: lighting roads with solar energy, digging wells, distributing water tankers, establishing and rehabilitating schools, preparing and rehabilitating health centers, distributing motors, providing agricultural tools, holding workshops to maintain boats, and repairing government building.

The Saudi program contributes to enhancing the economic state of residents in Hajjah and other provinces through providing basic services and improving the daily life of Yemenis, as well as offering job opportunities.
