Bahrain King, OIC Congratulate King Salman on 5th Anniversary of Accession to Power

Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa congratulated in a cable on Friday Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz on the fifth anniversary of his ascension to the throne, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

Bahrain’s Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa sent King Salman similar cables.

Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen congratulated on Saturday King Salman on the fifth anniversary of his ascension to the throne.

He said the Kingdom was “firmly moving forward towards openness to the world and in communicating with other cultures.”

“It is demonstrating the true image of moderate Islam,” he stressed, while citing Saudi Arabia’s “countless” achievements in the past five years.

He highlighted the Kingdom’s diversification of its sources of income, empowerment of women and the youth and hosting of next year’s G20 summit.

Albudaiwi Welcomes Gaza Ceasefire Agreement

Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi welcomed the announcement of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

He expressed hope that the agreement would contribute to restoring security and peace in the Gaza Strip, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to its residents, and facilitating the return of displaced individuals to their homes.

Albudaiwi also highlighted the devastating impact of the war waged by Israel on the Palestinian enclave, which resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians, the destruction of infrastructure, and an unprecedented deterioration in humanitarian conditions.

Moreover, he commended Qatar, Egypt, and the US for their significant efforts and diligent work with all relevant parties to reach the agreement.

Albudaiwi reiterated the GCC's steadfast position on the Palestinian cause, emphasizing support for the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the guarantee of refugees' rights.
