Kuwait announced on Friday the recovery of 12 coronavirus patients.

It registered 83 new virus cases on Friday, raising its count to 993 and 123 recoveries

In Oman, authorities ordered those living in the capital, Muscat, to remain there while banning people from traveling into the city over the virus.

The country has more than 450 confirmed cases, with two fatalities. It reported 27 new cases on Friday and 109 recoveries.

The United Arab Emirates announced Friday the death of two people from the coronavirus. It identified them as an Asian and an Arab national, saying they suffered from chronic health problems. Their death takes the country’s toll to 14.

The health ministry registered 331 new virus cases, raising the UAE’s count to 2,990. It also announced 29 recoveries, taking that total to 268.

There are more than 134,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the Middle East, including over 5,300 fatalities. Some 4,100 of those deaths are in Iran, which has the largest outbreak in the region. Authorities there have recorded over 66,000 total cases.

The virus causes mild to moderate symptoms in most patients, who recover within a few weeks. But it can cause severe illness or death, particularly in older patients or those with underlying health problems.
