Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his UAE counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, have welcomed the UN’s announcement that the Libyan National Army (LNA) and the Government of National Accord (GNA) accepted to resume talks on a ceasefire.
During a telephone call, the two foreign ministers reiterated adherence to a political solution that would support peace, security and stability across Libya.
In a joint statement issued Tuesday, Shoukry and Sheikh Abdullah called for the commitment to the UN-backed political process and the Berlin Conference on Libya.
They emphasized that the political process is the only solution for peace in Libya, and to maintain its territorial integrity.
The UAE and Egypt also affirmed that they stand with the Libyan people and all parties calling for calm to stop the bloodshed and achieve stability in Libya.
