Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received in Manama on Tuesday Jared Kushner, senior advisor to US President Donald Trump, stressing that Gulf stability depends on Saudi Arabia.
“Gulf Cooperation Council solidarity and stability depends, on all issues, on Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques” King Salman bin Abdulaziz, he was quoted as saying by the Bahrain news agency (BNA)
King Hamad also underlined Bahrain’s unwavering support to Saudi Arabia in achieving further regional prosperity and stability.
He also highlighted the historic ties between Bahrain and the US, which span more than 120 years of diplomatic relations and more than 75 years of military cooperation.
He emphasized the strength of bilateral ties, noting their continued progress in many fields, supported by a joint commitment to deepening them to benefit the interests of both countries and the security and stability of the Arabian Gulf.
King Hamad welcomed Kushner’s visit to Bahrain and noted the US administration’s significant efforts to support peace and stability in the region.
Furthermore, he underscored the “United Arab Emirates’ historic and continued efforts to support the interests and causes of Arab and Islamic nations, and their determined endeavors to reach a just and comprehensive solution that guarantees the Palestinian people their legitimate rights and lasting peace in the region.”
Bahrain had during an August 26 visit by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stressed its commitment to the 2002 Arab peace initiative.
King Hamad had underlined to Pompeo the need to intensify efforts to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict according to the two-state solution that will achieve fair and comprehensive peace and establish an independent sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
