Israeli officials visited Bahrain on Wednesday to discuss areas of cooperation between the two countries, a Bahraini source said.

Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates this month signed agreements to establish formal ties with Israel.

Israeli carrier Israir operated a flight from Tel Aviv to Bahrain on Wednesday, an Israeli media report said.

The report said an Israeli government delegation was onboard the flight. There are no direct scheduled commercial flights between the two countries.

Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on the phone on Tuesday, state news agency BNA reported.

“During the call, the Crown Prince stressed the importance of strengthening international security and peace and continuing efforts in support of peace, stability and prosperity,” it said.

In Israel, the PM’s office said in a statement that Netanyahu and Bahrain’s Crown Prince “talked of the means to rapidly boost the contents of the accord between our two countries, to transform this peace into an economic, technological, touristic peace, peace in each of these sectors.”
