Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, called on Wednesday “all dreamers to join Saudi Arabia in building economies of knowledge.”
The royal made his remarks during the launch of the inaugural Global AI Summit in Riyadh.
In his opening address, he said: “I call on all the dreamers, innovators, investors and opinion leaders to join us in the Kingdom to achieve this ambition and build a pioneering model to launch Artificial Intelligence in order to build economies of knowledge and meet the expectations of current and future generations.”
“At this summit, we look forward to unveiling a number of important initiatives with our global partners to help speed up the adoption of AI capabilities to achieve sustainable development and benefit from global expertise in this domain,” he continued.
“We welcome you in Riyadh from Saudi Arabia where we seek to become a global hub, for the East and West, and embrace AI and invest it for the good of mankind,” he announced, while underscoring the importance of AI in shaping the present and future.
“The year 2020 was an extraordinary one in testing the potential of AI at a time when we are experiencing a global phenomenon that is redefining our ways of life, work and education,” continued Crown Prince Mohammed.
“This demands that we all work to the utmost of our potential in meeting the expectations of our societies and improving our economies. In the Kingdom, we have seized the initiative to tackle these challenges by benefiting from AI potential,” he stressed.
