Bahrain Names Crown Prince as New PM

Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa has named Crown Prince Salman al-Khalifa as the new prime minister, the state news agency reported on Wednesday, citing a royal decree.

The decree takes effect immediately, it reported.

Bahrain’s late Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa died earlier on Wednesday.

Official mourning has been declared for a week.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has sent a cable of congratulations to United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on his country's National Day.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques wished Sheikh Mohamed continued good health and happiness, and the government and people of the UAE steady progress and prosperity.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques also praised the distinguished fraternal relations that bind the two countries and that both peoples are keen to strengthen.

For his part, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has also sent a cable of congratulations to United Arab Emirates President.
The Crown Prince wished Sheikh Mohamed continued good health and happiness, and the government and people of UAE steady progress and prosperity.
