Saudi Arabia said on Monday that a terrorist attack targeted in the early hours of the morning an oil facility in the coastal city of Jeddah.
An official source at the Energy Ministry said that an explosion caused a fire at a fuel tank at a petroleum products distribution station in northern Jeddah.
It confirmed that the blast was caused by a terrorist attack with the use of projectile, reported the Saudi Press Agency.
Firefighters doused the blaze and no one was injured or killed in the attack.
Saudi Aramco’s oil supplies to clients were not affected, added the source.
The Kingdom condemned the “cowardly attack”, stressing that such acts of “terrorism and sabotage” against vital facilities, including a recent one in Jazan, “target the security and stability of global energy supplies and the global economy.”
The Kingdom underlines the need to confront such attacks and the sides behind them.
