Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz stressed on Monday that Saudi Arabia plays a leading role in combating extremism and promoting tolerance.
In a telephone call with President of the European Council Charles Michel, he underlined the relations between Saudi Arabia and the European Union, saying he was keen on boosting them in service of the interests of the Kingdom and global security and peace.
Saudi Arabia, he continued, is exerting major efforts to bolster tolerance and coexistence between peoples and dialogue between religions out of its responsibility towards the Islamic world and Muslims throughout the world.
For his part, Michel congratulated King Salman on the unparalleled success of the G20 Leaders Summit, which was hosted by Saudi Arabia over the weekend.
He hailed Saudi Arabia’s recognized efforts in fighting extremism and terrorism, saying the European Council was keen on boosting cooperation with the Kingdom based on its leading role in the Islamic world.
