The Saudi Secretariat of the G20, in cooperation with the Saudi Telecom Company (STC), has succeeded in working as a digital enabler for the agenda of the Saudi G20 presidency, by providing the main services for all the Group of 20 meetings held this year.
STC contributed to the expansion of the 5G network by 130 percent to accommodate the increase in digital services during the summit. It also worked to equip its infrastructure to accommodate the largest optical fiber network in the region in huge data centers around the Kingdom.
In a statement on Tuesday, the company said it has provided more than 11 high-speed sites, covering all areas with wireless networks to serve the digital requirements of the virtual meetings and conferences. In addition, STC provided its logistic and technical services required to ensure the success of the summit.
STC has also designed and put in place data circuits and related systems in the G20 digital solutions, and enhanced them with extensions exceeding 100% and with protection systems that include over 90 security standards as part of the precautionary measures to safeguard the telecommunications infrastructure from any hacking or disruption attempts.
The statement also noted that the company mobilized engineers and technical manpower around the clock in the correspondence control centers in Riyadh and on STC’s facilities, in cooperation with the company’s public and private partners.
