Saudi Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman congratulated on Sunday Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, on the launch of a zero carbon city at NEOM.
In a tweet, he said “The Line” project demonstrates that Saudi Arabia has its sights on the future.
He remarked that “The Line” is among the major projects that prioritize people and seek to employ technology to serve society.
The city will be capable of housing one million residents, would comprise "carbon-positive urban developments powered by 100% clean energy,” said Crown Prince Mohammed in announcing plans for “The Line” earlier on Sunday.
A statement said construction would start in Q1 2021 on the project, which is expected to contribute $48 billion to the Kingdom's GDP and provide 380,000 job opportunities by 2030.
