Aramco launched the first locally produced information security technology called the “data diode”, which protects networks against cyber breaches and outperforms traditional protection techniques.

Last year, Saudi Aramco and the Advanced Electronics Company (AEC) signed an agreement to jointly develop and manufacture a cybersecurity device, the “data diode”, the first of its kind in the Kingdom.

Senior Vice President for Technical Services at Aramco Ahmed Al-Saadi said: “The company continues to be a pioneer in supporting local content, whether in its initiatives and projects or in operations and services.”

He explained that the data diode was an important tool to protect networks from cyber threats and provide the highest degree of protection, which is one of the factors enabling the industrial digital transformation in the Kingdom.

Saadi added that the device has been developed and manufactured by national competencies to provide the best solutions and systems in the field of cybersecurity.

Aramco is making efforts to develop the information security infrastructure to prevent any breach that could result in severe economic or social impacts, as it works diligently to reach high levels to protect cybersecurity.

This step allows the company to be a major contributor to the development of the national information and communication technology sector, the index of which has seen a remarkable growth of 64 percent since 2017.

The innovative design of the second generation of the data diode provides the ability to support multiple applications, making it superior to most solutions on the market and a catalyst for entrepreneurs to invest in local talent and develop their technical ideas into products.

It also opens the door to creating a launching pad for future opportunities in the field of cybersecurity, and the dissemination of highly specialized knowledge.
