Organizers of the Frankfurt Book Fair announced on Monday that this year's edition will be held as a live event under the motto "Re:connect," the German News Agency reported.

This centuries old fair that brings together a large number of publishers is seen as one of the most important cultural events in the world.

In 2020, the Frankfurt Book Fair went digital due to the pandemic.

Publishers willing to take part in the 73th edition of the book fair can register now and until May 31. The event is set to be held between October 20 and 24.

The event will be accompanied with digital preparations aimed at ensuring flexibility in case any developments related to the pandemic emerge.

Canada is supposed to be the honorary guest of this year's edition.

"In 2021, the Frankfurt Book Fair will represent again an important hub that gathers writers, authors, and publishers. This industry needs an exchange of ideas more than ever," said Juergen Boos, president and CEO of Frankfurt Book Fair.
