Saudi Court Sentences 5 to Death for Joining ISIS

A Saudi court sentenced on Thursday five suspects to death for joining an ISIS cell that is linked to terrorist acts that had taken place in the Kingdom over the years.

The court found the suspects guilty of joining the 45-member cell that is headed by the terror group’s leader in Saudi Arabia. He was dispatched to the Kingdom by leaders of the group in the region in order to carry out attacks in the country.

The suspects were accused of attempting to murder several members of the security forces. They were found guilty of the assassination of Brig. Gen. Kitab Al-Otaibi, investigations director of the Al-Quwaiiyah governorate, west of Riyadh in April 2016.

The cell is involved in a number of terrorist operations, including the attack on the Special Emergency Forces mosque in Abha, in August 2015, and Najran’s Al-Mashhad mosque, in October 2015.
