The UAE Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Mohammed bin Ahmed al-Bowardi, held a meeting Wednesday with Saudi Arabia’s Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Lt. General Fayyad bin Hamed al-Ruwaili and his accompanying delegation.

Both sides discussed strategic and historic bilateral relations and means of bolstering and developing them to serve both countries’ interests, as well as efforts to develop cooperation in the fields of military and defense.

They reviewed cooperation and coordination efforts to face the coronavirus repercussions and means of enhancing collective international action to ensure recovery at various levels.

Bowardi and Ruwaili also exchanged views on several regional and international issues of common interest.

Meanwhile, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces Lt. General Hamad Mohammed Thani al-Rumaithi held talks with his Saudi counterpart and discussed military issues of common interest.

They reviewed bilateral ties and means of bolstering and developing cooperation at various levels.

The meetings come in line with the continuous consultation and coordination between the two brotherly countries.

Albudaiwi: GCC Stance on Russia-Ukraine Crisis is Based on International Law, UN Charter

Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi affirmed that the council's position on the Russia-Ukraine crisis is based on international law and the United Nations Charter, which emphasizes the need to maintain an international order based on respect for the sovereignty of states, the integrity of their territories, and their political independence, as well as non-interference in their internal affairs and the prohibition of the use or threat of force, SPA reported.
According to a press release from the GCC's Secretariat General, Albudaiwi made this statement at his meeting on Monday with Ambassador of Ukraine to Saudi Arabia Anatolii Petrenko.
Albudaiwi also said that the GCC states are exerting mediation efforts and support all regional and global initiatives aimed at resolving the crisis between Russia and Ukraine, achieve a ceasefire, and find a political solution through dialogue and negotiations.
The meeting also discussed ways to boost Gulf-Ukrainian relations, and regional and international issues.
