The Saudi government reiterated on Tuesday the Kingdom’s solidarity with the Lebanese people as they endure crises and hardship.

This was demonstrated in Saudi Arabia’s participation last week in the conference for the support of Lebanon and its people.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salam bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held virtually amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The ministers reiterated the Kingdom’s position that any aid to the current or future Lebanese government hinges on it carrying out serious and tangible reform and ensuring that the aid reaches those who deserve it. The government must avoid means that allow the corrupt to control the fate of Lebanon.

The ministers also underscored the Kingdom’s ranking third globally and first in the Arab world in providing humanitarian assistance to Yemen, as shown by United Nations figures. This demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s constant values and principles, which stem from Islamic teachings, that are reflected in giving to the needy across the globe.

Moreover, the cabinet underlined the Kingdom’s keenness on sponsoring initiatives that bolster peaceful coexistence and dialogue between the Arab and Islamic worlds with the entire world. This position was expressed at the “Forum of Iraqi References” that was hosted by the Muslim World League in the holy city of Makkah on August 4. The event brought together 80 prominent Iraqi Sunni and Shiite religious leaders and scholars to promote unity and reconciliation.

The gatherers had highlighted Saudi Arabia’s efforts, led by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in serving Islam, Muslims and mankind as a whole. They stressed the need to bolster channels of dialogue and communication between scholars in Iraq to address various problems and promote common values for the sake of their nation and people.

The Saudi government also reviewed various regional and international developments, including the coronavirus pandemic. It urged citizens and residents to continue to comply with health restrictions and precautions and to sign up to receive the vaccine.
