The Riyadh International Book Fair is preparing to open its doors on October 1 and draw visitors from across the Arab world.
The event is considered among the biggest and most prominent book fairs in the Arab world.
Held annually, the Riyadh International Book Fair aims to promote intellectual, cultural and literary awareness by bringing together the most prominent figures of Arab and international thought under one roof.
Many artistic and cultural events, a series of discussions, interactive activities, workshops, and various cultural seminars are expected to be held in conjunction with the fair.
For the first time, the fair, which runs for ten days, will host an international conference for publishers aimed at enhancing communication between local, Arab and international publishing houses and enriching the publishing scene in the region.
More books are sold there than at any other Arab book fair, and it receives over half a million visitors annually. More than 500 Arab and international publishing houses take part in it.
The Saudi Ministry of Culture chose Iraq as the 2021 edition of the Riyadh International Book Fair’s “guest of honor.”
Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan tweeted that choosing Iraq as the guest of honor comes within the context of the relations that bind the two brotherly peoples of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iraq and as part of the joint efforts of the two countries to enhance cooperation in all fields.
