Saudi Arabia, Oman Sign Five MoUs in Commercial, Media Fields

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman have signed five memorandums of understanding in the commercial and media fields - SPA

Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman signed five memoranda of understanding (MoU) in the commercial and media fields on Tuesday.


This came on the sidelines of the visit by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, to Muscat.


Two of the deals signed aim to boost cooperation between the two countries in the commercial fields, standardization, specifications, quality, and laboratories. The agreements were signed by Saudi Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid Abdullah Al-Qasabi and Omani Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion Qais bin Mohammed Al-Yousef.


The MoU in the commercial field stipulates exchanging expertise to enhance the competitiveness of national industries, provide protection for national production against harmful practices in international trade, encourage holding joint economic and commercial activities to increase the level of commercial exchange in intra-trade and international trade, as well as means to develop them and studying markets and exportation opportunities.


Also, the MoU in the standardization field stipulates exchanging information, data, and studies in various standardization fields, scientific research, cooperation in the fields of specifications, quality, and laboratories, as agreed between the two sides, encouraging launching training courses, exchanging scientific research and expertise, cooperating in protecting the safety of consumers, and ensuring the importance of applying standards issues by the two countries. It also stipulates cooperation in the fields of verifying standards and mutual accreditation between the two countries.


Also, the two countries signed three deals in media fields related to enhancing cooperation in the fields of visual, audio, and print media, producing media content and the cinema industry, exchanging media studies and research, and exchanging news and relevant technologies.


The three agreements were signed by Al-Qasabi and Omani Minister of Information Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Harrasi.
