The Saudi embassy in Paris said a statement late Tuesday that a man arrested in the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi "has nothing to do with the case in question" and demanded his immediate release.

French police had said they arrested a man suspected of involvement in the 2018 murder of Khashoggi in Istanbul.

The man was arrested at the Roissy airport near Paris.
