Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett arrived in Bahrain on Monday on the highest-level visit since the countries established relations under a 2020 US-sponsored deal.
Bennett and his accompanying delegation arrived in Manama for an official two-day visit.
He said that the visit comes in response to the invitation of the Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa, who met him at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) three months ago in Glasgow.
The prime minister's office described the visit as historic, saying he will meet with the Crown Prince on Tuesday.
Bennett added that the discussions in Bahrain would deal with ways to boost relations between the two countries, reiterating the importance of peace, development, and prosperity in the region.
He called for advancing political and economic issues and focusing on technology and innovation.
The top Israeli official confirmed that he would meet in Manama with the ministers of foreign affairs, finance, industry, and transportation.
He revealed that he would also meet with representatives of the Jewish community in Bahrain.
Bennett's visit to Manama comes a year and five months after signing the normalization agreement between the two countries within the Abraham Accords and two months after Bennett's first visit to a Gulf country, the UAE.
Meanwhile, the official TV channel Kan 11 reported that Israel would participate for the first time at the Egyptian Petroleum Show (EGYPS) in Cairo, alongside several Arab and Islamic countries in the Middle East that do not have diplomatic ties with Tel Aviv.
Israeli media in Tel Aviv reported that the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) concluded a deal to sell modern defense systems to Morocco.
The IAI will supply the Moroccan military with Barak MX air- and missile-defense systems in the deal worth more than $500 million.
The Barak MX system provides "a single integrated solution for multiple simultaneous aerial threats from different sources and different ranges," IAI stated on its website.
Barak-MX is supported by radar and various launchers for the best coverage of combat aircraft, helicopters, UAVs, cruise missiles, ground-to-air missiles, and ground-to-ground missiles.
