OIC Welcomes Announcement of Yemen Truce

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has welcomed the announcement made by the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, that the parties to the Yemeni conflict agreed to a two-month truce.

During the truce, all forms of military operations inside Yemen and across the border would be halted.

The OIC expressed its appreciation of the UN envoy’s efforts, hoping that the truce would alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and provide appropriate conditions for the Yemeni parties to reduce escalation and reach a comprehensive political settlement of the conflict that would achieve peace, security and stability in Yemen and the region.
