Saudi Arabia detected its first monkeypox case in the capital Riyadh for a person arriving from abroad, state news agency (SPA) reported on Thursday, citing a health ministry statement.

The infected person is under medical observation and receiving care in line with the approved healthcare procedures, the ministry said.

Those in contact with the individual have been isolated and have not shown any symptoms, it added.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received a phone call on Tuesday from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The Crown Prince welcomed the ceasefire agreement reached earlier in the day, expressing the Kingdom’s hope that it would contribute to restoring security and stability while averting further escalation.

The Crown Prince reaffirmed the Kingdom's firm position in favor of resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomatic channels.

Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for the Kingdom’s condemnation of the Israeli aggression and commended the Crown Prince's efforts to support regional security and stability.

The Crown Prince also received a telephone call from Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani.

The Crown Prince and the Iraqi prime minister welcomed the ceasefire agreement’s entry into force, affirming the need to exert all necessary efforts to maintain security and stability.

The Saudi Crown Prince held a separate phone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, who expressed his appreciation for the Saudi stance advocating for the resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomatic channels.

They addressed recent developments, including the ceasefire agreement, with both leaders stressing the importance of continuing necessary efforts to maintain security and stability.
