Saudi Arabia detected its first monkeypox case in the capital Riyadh for a person arriving from abroad, state news agency (SPA) reported on Thursday, citing a health ministry statement.

The infected person is under medical observation and receiving care in line with the approved healthcare procedures, the ministry said.

Those in contact with the individual have been isolated and have not shown any symptoms, it added.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who is also the Kingdom's Prime Minister, met on Wednesday with former US President Bill Clinton, SPA reported.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged cordial discussions.
Saudi Ambassador to the US Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Minister of State, Member of the Cabinet, and National Security Advisor Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, and the former US president’s accompanying delegation attended the meeting.
