Kuwait has appointed an ambassador to Iran, both countries said on Sunday, more than six years after recalling its top envoy to Tehran in solidarity with Saudi Arabia after it severed ties with the country in 2016.

Ambassador Bader Abdullah Al-Munaikh handed his credentials to Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian in Tehran on Saturday, Iran's foreign ministry said on its website. Kuwait's foreign ministry confirmed Munaikh was appointed envoy to Iran.

Iran already has an ambassador in Kuwait.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned on Saturday the ongoing and escalating Israeli attacks against Syrian territory.

It slammed Israel’s recent airstrike near the presidential palace in Damascus.

The OIC stated that this act is a blatant violation of international law and Syria's sovereignty, reiterating the country's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.

It called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to take decisive action to stop these repeated attacks that jeopardize regional peace and security.
