Saudi Arabia Strongly Condemns Istanbul Attack

Saudi Arabia strongly condemned an attack that targeted Istanbul’s Istiklal Avenue on Sunday killing and wounding several.

“The Kingdom condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist bombing that targeted the Taksim area in central Istanbul, which led to the death and injury of a number of civilians,” the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“The Kingdom affirms its support for Turkey against this cowardly act and offers its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Turkey,” the ministry added.

For his part, the Secretary-Genera of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hussein Tahaof also denounced the "terrorist" bombing in Istanbul, expressing the organization's solidarity with Turkey, affirming its firm position against terrorism in all its forms. He also expressed sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the Turkish government and people, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah has met with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani.

Monday’s meeting took place on the sidelines of the Saudi minister's participation in the expanded session of the second Group of Seven (G7) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in Fiuggi, Italy.

The two sides discussed relations between the two countries and explored ways to enhance cooperation across various fields. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Prince Faisal and Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly also met in Fiuggi.
