Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz affirmed that there are great opportunities for cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Thailand in several fields.

Prince Mohammed met with the Prime Minister of Thailand, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, during his visit to Bangkok as part of his Asian tour.

During the meeting, the Crown Prince asserted that the opportunities between the two countries were great, which was affirmed during the Prime Minister’s visit to Saudi Arabia nine months ago, when it was agreed to cooperate in many sectors, and accomplished many of them in a way that exceeded the expectations.

“We are working today in cooperation in several areas in the field of energy, tourism, investment, infrastructure, agriculture, and other fields from which our two countries will benefit,” said the Crown Prince.

He recalled that Saudi Arabia was the first Arab country to establish ties with Thailand in the fifties last century, and it was looking forward to moving the relations to another level.

“We will witness the signing of many agreements, and we will also discuss many opportunities in the future that we will work on next year,” said the Crown Prince, asserting that this will have great returns to the peoples and economies of both countries.

He thanked the Prime Minister for his hospitality, warm reception, and care for the Saudi delegation.

For his part, the Thai Prime Minister welcomed the Crown Prince and the accompanying delegation, expressing his sincere thanks for the visit and participating in the informal dialogue of the leaders of the member states of the Summit of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum.

He also greeted the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, stressing his readiness to work with the Crown Prince to boost bilateral relations.

At the end of the talks, the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister witnessed the exchange of several memoranda of understanding between the two governments of Saudi Arabia and Thailand in the fields of energy, tourism, and encouraging direct investment.

The two countries also signed deals between the Saudi Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) and the Thai National Anti-Corruption Authority in preventing and combating corruption, and another to form the Saudi-Thai Coordination Council.

Earlier, Prince Mohammed met Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua at Chakri Maha Parsat Throne Hall.

During the meeting, the Crown Prince conveyed to the King the greetings of King Salman, while the King of Thailand expressed his greetings and appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. They also exchanged cordial talks about the Saudi-Thai friendship.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz congratulated on Saturday Muslims on the advent of Eid al-Fitr.

In a speech on the occasion, he expressed his gratitude to government sectors for their efforts to facilitate the Umrah rituals for visitors throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

Media Minister Salman al-Dossary delivered the speech on King Salman’s behalf.

He said that God “has bestowed countless blessings upon our country, foremost among which is the privilege of serving the two holy mosques and the Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.”

“Eid is an occasion of joy and happiness, embodying unity, compassion, and brotherhood,” he added.

“May God continue to bestow security, peace, stability, and prosperity upon our country, the Islamic nation, and the entire world,” he said.

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates declared on Saturday that Sunday will be the first day of Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan.
