The Saudi Arabian defense forces announced on Tuesday that it intercepted a ballistic missile fired from Houthi militias in Yemen.
The missile was intercepted south of the capital Riyadh.
No damage was reported in the incident.
Spokesman for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Turki al-Maliki confirmed that the rocket was intercepted by Saudi defense forces.
He said that it was headed towards a residential in Riyadh, but it was destroyed south of the capital. No casualties were reported.
He stressed that the Houthis’ possession of Iranian-made ballistic missiles is a threat to regional and international security, adding that their launch towards residential areas is a violation of International Humanitarian Law.
The militias’ continuation of launching rockets is a clear indication that the Iran-backed Houthis are continuing in using portals dedicated to humanitarian aid for smuggling Iranian missiles, which is a blatant violation of related United Nations resolutions.
