King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) signed, on Thursday in Riyadh, health project contracts to treat injured Yemenis inside and outside Yemen. The contracts were signed by Assistant Supervisor General of the center for Logistics and Programs Ahmed al-Baiz.

Dr. Abdullah al-Moallem, Consultant to KSrelief's Program and Operations Department, pointed out that a number of health executive projects were signed to treat injured Yemenis inside and outside Yemen, in partnership with Bureihi Hospital, Al Qadi Specialty Hospital and Skop Foundation Monitoring Evaluation and Social Development. Through these programs, medical care is provided to injured Yemenis, 150 patients for every hospital inside Yemen and 50 patients outside Yemen so that the total contracting number reaches 350, he added.

Up to 3,973 were previously treated in the private sector hospitals.

Moallem stressed the center’s keenness to include in its health programs all the Yemeni governorates and all fields, in partnership with local and international partners. The total number of executed programs in Yemen reached $822m, covering all Yemeni governorates with no exceptions.

Further, KSrelief completed the distribution of food aid to the Directorate of Al-Ma'afer in Taiz province amounting to 8000 food baskets. This assistance comes within the framework of the support provided by the Center for all governorates of Yemen to alleviate the sufferings of the people. Ksrelief also distributed 17,500 food baskets in several districts in Hajjah Governorate in Yemen including displacement camps in Midi and Harad. The aid comes as an extension of relief and humanitarian projects offered by the center in Yemen, which amounted to 175 projects in all governorates.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
