Saudi Ambassador Mohammed Saeed Al-Jaber arrived in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen, and held meetings with Prime Minister Ahmed Obeid Bin Daghr and a number of ministers and governors of liberated provinces to get to know the humanitarian and service needs of the Yemeni people. Before his arrival to Aden, Jaber stated that he will discuss with the Yemeni government the urgent needs for the ports and roads to enable the access of imports to the whole Yemeni nation, noting that the comprehensive humanitarian operations plan in Yemen will be announced within days.

A Yemeni government source said to Asharq Al-Awsat that the Saudi ambassador discussions with the officials will tackle the best way to benefit from the Saudi deposit to maintain the economy’s stability.

Jaber stressed his country’s keenness on supporting all Yemeni people, and that the kingdom has a comprehensive plan to assist Yemenis in cooperation with UAE.

While receiving the Saudi ambassador, Dagher expressed gratitude for the government and people to the Saudi supporting standpoints and to the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to deposit USD2b at the Central Bank of Yemen.

For the second day in a row, the Yemeni riyal continued its re-balance in the backdrop of the Saudi deposit, which was ordered by King Salman for the Central Bank of Yemen. Bankers reported to Asharq Al-Awsat that they expect the banking sector to witness stability in exchange rates within the upcoming days in addition to a progress in the local riyal value.

In Sana’a, the negative feedback of Houthi militia towards the Saudi deposit led to sarcasm on the social media, knowing that Houthi leader Mohammed al-Houthi doubted in a tweet the credibility of the deposit news.
