Turkish authorities announced apprehending 14 foreigners including three leaders in ISIS, one of them is Kifah Bashir Hussein also known as emir of "health diwan” in the group.
Security sources reported that the operation was conducted by Sanliurfa Province Security Directorate intelligence and terrorism-combat teams, on Tuesday, based on ‘intelligence information’ that a group of ISIS members including leaders and officers will pass from Syria to Turkey.
During the operation, security forces detained 12 individuals who passed through Syria to Turkey besides two Syrians who provided support for them from Turkey. As for the detainees’ nationalities, sources revealed that they are seven Algerians, two Syrians, two Iraqis, and a British and Dutch from Moroccan and Egyptian origins.
Iraqi Kifah Bashir Hussein confessed during the investigations that he is the emir of the health divan in ISIS, and that he is specialized in Rheology .
He helped form Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad in 2004, then later on participated in activities of al-Qaeda in Iraq. As the emir of the health diwan, he had six to seven other emirs under his command, he admitted.
Among the detainees are two individuals whose names are on the Interpol Red Notice. Also, a capias was issued on behalf of the British individual from Moroccan origins.
After the investigation was completed, detainees were referred to the court which kept 13 out of them in detention and released the Egyptian detainee but kept him under surveillance.
Last week, Turkish security forces arrested 10 members of ISIS including someone called Tarik who was occupying the position of the agricultural minister in the group.
