Five Libyan soldiers were killed on Wednesday in a car bombing in the al-Jafra region southeast of Tripoli.
Sources told the Libyan news agency that two others were wounded in the blast, which destroyed two military vehicles.
Libya has been gripped by chaos since a NATO-backed uprising toppled and killed longtime ruler Moammar Gaddafi in 2011, with rival administrations and multiple forces vying for control of the oil-rich country.
