GCC, OIC Support Saudi Arabia's Measures against Canada

Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani expressed on Monday his support for Saudi Arabia’s measures against Canada's Foreign Ministry and the Canadian Embassy in Riyadh, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

Al-Zayani stressed his condemnation and rejection of the Canadian action, which held false claims, describing Canadian statements as unacceptable interference in Saudi internal affairs.

"These statements are a clear violation of the principles of the UN Charter and also detrimental to the relations between Saudi Arabia and Canada," he added.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), meanwhile, voiced full understanding of the Kingdom's position calling for non-interference in its internal affairs, citing international charters that bar such meddling.

OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen asserted that Saudi Arabia is a sovereign kingdom that enjoys great respect on the regional and international levels.

Moreover, its judiciary enjoys full independence and has internal laws that guarantee, regulate and observe civil society activities, he added.

Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah received a phone call from Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Saudi Press Agency said on Thursday.

During the call, Sheikh Mohammed expressed Qatar’s condemnation of the Houthi militia’s targeting of civilian and economic sites in the southern regions of Saudi Arabia.

The two ministers also discussed the latest regional developments and their countries’ diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and safeguard the region’s security and stability.

The Muslim World League (MWL) strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s continued aggression against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including its heinous attacks targeting the cities of Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Jazan with ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.

In a statement issued by the MWL General Secretariat, MWL Secretary-General and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa reiterated his condemnation of these criminal attacks, which violate religious values as well as international and humanitarian laws and norms.

He stressed that the attacks underscore the criminal conduct pursued by the terrorist militia, particularly its deliberate targeting of civilians and civilian objects.

On behalf of the MWL’s academies, bodies, and global councils, as well as all Muslim peoples under its umbrella, Al-Issa reaffirmed full solidarity with the Kingdom in all measures it takes to deter the aggressors, safeguard its security and national assets, and ensure the safety of its citizens and residents.

Official Spokesperson for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Major General Turki Al-Malki stated that the terrorist Houthi militia is persisting in its heinous attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's 's national assets and infrastructure, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday.

Al-Malki explained that the continuation of these attacks demonstrates the Houthi militia's approach and extremist ideology regarding escalation and the targeting of civilians within the Kingdom.

On Wednesday, the militia launched attacks against the cities of Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Jazan using ballistic missiles and drones.

Al-Malki confirmed that the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition will respond to these attacks responsibly to protect the Kingdom's sovereignty and national assets, as well as to safeguard civilians and civilian assets from these heinous acts.

This response will be conducted in accordance with the principle of self-defense pursuant to international law and Article 51 of the UN Charter and in compliance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules.
