Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, discussed with King of Morocco Mohammed VI the strong ties between the UAE and Morocco, as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Both sides discussed ways of developing and diversifying their political, economic, cultural and development cooperation to achieve the aspirations of their countries and peoples.

The Crown Prince stressed that, under the leadership of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE is keen to strengthen its relations with Morocco to reinforce joint Arab action in light of the challenges faced by the region.

King Mohammed expressed his happiness at visiting UAE and highlighted the strong ties between the two countries while praising UAE’s efforts to promote joint Arab action under the leadership of Sheikh Khalifa.

At the end of the meeting, both sides highlighted their keenness to strengthen their relations, and promote cooperation, coordination and joint action, to serve the interests of Arab communities and face the challenges and dangers threatening the region’s security and stability.

They also stressed the need for continued coordination and consultation between the two countries on the latest regional developments.

Sheikh Mohamed also received on Monday US State Department's Special Envoy retired Lt. Anthony Zinni.

Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the US envoy and discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
