Palestinian Prime Minister Rami al-Hamdallah announced forming an investigation committee to study the case of the property issue in Jerusalem near Al-Aqsa Mosque.
A statement by Hamdallah revealed that he intends to figure out the truth behind the Jerusalem building and hold all relevant parties accountable and to announce the results of the investigation once the committee has concluded its mission.
A settlement association succeeded in laying hands over the 3-floor historic building spanning over 800 meters. The Palestinian government denounced the Israeli confiscation of the property in the Oqbet Darwish in the Old City of Occupied Jerusalem and other attacks in Silwan neighborhood.
The cabinet called upon the international organizations and institutions, especially UNESCO, to intervene immediately to prevent the occupation from dissolving and damaging the original Arab, Islamic, and Christian cultural heritage and identity of the city.
Hatem Abdul Qader, a former Palestinian government minister, called on the Palestinian government to form a professional and independent committee to seek the truth regarding the property.
He stated that the silence of the Palestinian security bodies concerning this case led to rumors in the Palestinian street. Abdul Qader warned against the official silence that represented a tough strike to Jerusalem and its citizens – this will lead to dangerous consequences that would destabilize the national authority and raise suspicion about its stance towards this cause.
Abdul Qader noted that unrevealing the truth for the Palestinians and not holding accountable those involved stabs the citizens in the back.
