Two Russian nationals have been detained by Turkish police in the central province of Kayseri this week, the Russian embassy in Ankara said Friday.
Turkish authorities have arrested the two Russian citizens as part of a security operation against ISIS cells, it said.
The embassy identified them as Rashid Enikeev and Elana Rakhmanova.
The mission "is investigating the circumstances surrounding their detention,” press-attache Irina Kasimova said.
According to the private Dogan news agency, Enikeev is on the Interpol list on terrorism charges, including the illegal transportation and settlement of widows of Syrian militants in Turkey.
Turkish security sources said that counter-terrorism police arrested last Wednesday five people accused of belonging to ISIS in simultaneous raids in the northern province of Samsun.
Security forces have been involved in a long-running campaign to thwart ISIS attacks after several cities, including the capital Ankara and Istanbul, have been rocked in the past three years by bombings claimed by the terrorist group.
Such attacks have left more than 319 people dead.
In September, counter-terrorism police detained an ISIS militant in the southern province of Adana, one year after he mingled with Syrian refugees to enter Turkey.
Syrian national Ahmed Issa, aka Abu Ayoub, was about to be discharged from a hospital in the province after his treatment when police detained him.
