US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that the United States needs Saudi Arabia in the war against terrorism.
He told Fox that he did not want to abandon Saudi Arabia.
“Saudi Arabia’s our partner, our ally against Iran,” he said. “They’ve been a great ally to me.”
Moreover, he revealed that Washington had requested that Turkey provide any audio or video recordings connected to the disappearance of Saudi citizen Jamal Khashoggi.
He expected to uncover the truth to what happened to him by the end of the week.
His comments came hours after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had made clear in talks in Ankara that Saudi officials were cooperating with Turkey's investigation into the case.
"He made clear that the Saudis had cooperated with the investigation that the Turks are engaged in and that they're going to share information that they learn with the Saudis as well," Pompeo told reporters aboard his plane after leaving Turkey.
"There have been a couple of delays (in the probe) but they (the Turks) seemed pretty confident that the Saudis would permit them to do the things they need to do to complete their thorough and complete investigation," Reuters quoted him as saying.
