Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) units partaking in the 2019 Red Flag exercises arrived to Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada and were received by Col. Masoud bin Shri, commander of the air force participating in the exercise, and Lieutenant colonel Mohammed Alqahtani.
It is worth noting that participating fighter jets had landed at the airbase earlier.
The arrival of aircrews and technical support teams is an important stage of the exercise and has been completed with success and high accuracy, Shri said, pointing out that moving troops and equipment is not an easy task.
RSAF’s participation in the Red Flag war-games is planned to increase its combat readiness, provide training in a different air environment, and evaluate the participants' proficiency in engaging combat.
Shri noted that participating F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets belong to the latest air defense systems.
In parallel, the Joint Al-Jazeera Shield Drill’s 10th edition continued its activities in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. The two-week drill is considered one of the largest exercises in the region and involves air, sea and land Gulf forces.
It is also part of a comprehensive strategic vision by the Saudi Defense Ministry, which aims to constantly gain experience, promote security and military readiness under different circumstances to preserve security and stability in the Arab Gulf and the world.
In its third phase, the drill consists of field training with live ammunition, and the fourth includes the closing ceremony and departure of forces.
