Al-Khobar’s Corniche has witnessed the first-ever Color Run held in Saudi Arabia with men, women and children from different age groups and backgrounds coming together to partake in a 5K race promoting health awareness and fitness in general.
Early Saturday morning, 1,500 marathon enthusiasts flocked to the track where colors doused their clothes with each race mark they passed. Apart from motivating people to focus on their and their families’ health, the event was also intended to promote running for charities, which is regularly hosted by the Eastern Province at the very same venue.
With no winners or official times, the 'Happiest 5K on the Planet' celebrates health, happiness, and individuality, helping participants achieve their fitness goals by providing a fun running environment. The theme was to set up a non-competitive race to celebrate the hero within each of the participants.
After crossing the finish line, runners joined a grand finale music concert, photo shoots, activity booths and street vendors, and more color powder throwing every 15 minutes.
The Color Run’s message is to promote integration among all members of the community.
Taking place in parallel to Eastern Province Season 2019 festivities, the run is not only a celebration of health, but also happiness and independence in an exciting and competitive environment.
Participants who ran towards the finish line received limited medals for participating in the 2019 run.
The Color Run, the largest of its kind worldwide, has attracted more than 7 million contestants in more than 40 countries from all over the world, stretching its borders even further with the latest addition to its list of hosting countries, Saudi Arabia.
Al-Khobar’s race isn’t the last the Kingdom will see with the General Entertainment Authority saying it will reveal Color Runs for Jeddah and Riyadh soon.
