The Saudi cabinet approved on Tuesday the appointment of Yasir al-Rumayyan as Aramco chairman.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held at the Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.
The ministers highlighted the series of royal decrees announced by King Salman and that include the establishment of a new Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the establishment of the Saudi data and artificial intelligence authority.
King Salman ordered that the Riyadh Development Authority be transformed into a Royal Commission under the name "The Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh".
The decrees, said the ministers, are in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The cabinet also discussed the latest regional and international developments and congratulated Muslims on the advent of the Hijri new year. The ministers hoped that the new year will bring an end to crises raging in the Arab and Islamic world.
In addition, they hailed the United Nations Security Council for condemning the Iran-backed Houthis for their repeated attempts to target civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. The Houthis’ action are a threat to the stability of the region and undermine the UN-sponsored political process in Yemen.
On Sudan, the ministers highlighted the urgent relief aid that was dispatched from Saudi Arabia to the African country at the directives of King Salman.
On Tuesday, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center began delivering the humanitarian aid to people affected by the recent floods in Sudan.
The move stems from Saudi Arabia’s keenness on the safety of the Sudanese people and is part of the central role is plays in providing aid throughout the world to all those in need without discrimination, said the cabinet.
