United Arab Emirates officials have emphasized the importance of staying at home through different media platforms. This came as part of a national effort to protect against and combat the implications of the new coronavirus pandemic. Pamphlets and hashtags such as #TogetherWeWillDefeatCorona, #StayAtHome and #ComittedOhHomeland on social media websites emphasized that the country can overcome this phase and come out stronger and more capable against crises and hardships.

Crown Prince of Dubai and chairman of the Dubai executive council, Hamden Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, delivered a message to public employees in Dubai as an example of the nation’s efforts to stop the spread of the coronavirus. He affirmed that the country’s leadership is keen to protect the health of people and the safety of living for everyone. He said: “A message to our people, that their health is the priority and that all of the country’s resources are dedicated to secure their safety, and today, everyone is responsible for everyone. The UAE is united against all challenges, united to overcome any crisis and is united to protect our achievements. May God protect our people and the health, safety, and wellbeing of our society”.

He also added that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, has affirmed that the UAE has secured sufficient capacity to take all precautionary measures to protect society, and will not hesitate to do whatever it takes to secure people’s safety.

“We are all partners in confronting this challenge”, he said, “medicines and food are a red line, do not worry at all," he added.

He pointed out the importance of temporary lifestyle changes, saying: “We are required to make temporary radical changes to our daily lifestyle, and as public servants in Dubai, we must support our leadership in this phase by carrying out all of our responsibilities and abiding by the instructions published by experts.

"Let us pledge to stay at home as much as possible, as there are people who do not sleep to protect our safety and for the nation to live in safety and peace. We should not undermine the influence that every one of us has, and our commitment is our strongest weapon to safely overcome this and for beautiful life to return”.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
