Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi reiterated his call for a federal state based on the fair distribution of power and wealth, accusing the Houthi coup militias of causing an unprecedented humanitarian disaster in the country.
At an annual speech on Wednesday on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, Hadi said Ramadan returns for the sixth year as parts of the country remain under the control of the militias that “caused through their Iran-backed armed coup an unprecedented humanitarian disaster in Yemen … to implement a sectarian agenda backed by the mullahs of Iran.”
The President rejected turning Yemen into a hotbed for destructive ideas or be used for undermining the region’s security.
He pledged to keep Yemen part of the Arab world instead of turning it into “a culture alien to our people and history.”
The President said the militias have seized the truce to intensify violations, including "firing ballistic missiles on neighborhoods in the city of Marib."
“It is time that the international community understands the nature of this militia. It is just a tool serving Tehran’s suspicious plans,” he stressed.
Separately, Hadi sent Thursday a cable to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on the occasion of Ramadan, wishing him good health, well being and the Saudi people more prosperity and progress.
He also highly praised Saudi Arabia's support for Yemen.
