The Supreme Committee to Combat the Coronavirus Epidemic (SCCCE) has recommended a 10-day extension for the lockdown in southern Libyan cities, especially Sabha, to bring the pandemic under control.
The National Center for Disease Control announced 13 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total cases to 209 in the country.
The SCCCE highlighted the importance of extending the partial curfew in the south, from 8 pm till 6 am, while stressing wearing masks.
The Committee permitted owners of small stores to resume work, while complying with social distancing. It further added that transportation remains suspended and wedding venues closed.
It is also substantial that law enforcement officers monitor the implementation of the curfew across the country, and penalize whoever violates the precautionary measures, it said.
Garyan Emergency Committee south of the capital Tripoli announced nine confirmed cases who were quarantined at home after taking the needed medication.
The Libyan Consulate in Istanbul called on stranded Libyans wishing to return home to head to a hotel and go into quarantine.
The consulate released a list of 400 names on its Facebook page, requesting that they come with their luggage and passports.
