Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan has said that his country will spare no effort to back all states in their war against terrorism and extremism.
The minister took part on Friday in the virtual meeting of the coalition of G5 Sahel countries, hosted by France, with the participation of Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Chad in addition to the European Union and other international partners.
“The Kingdom will spare no effort in supporting all countries in their fight against the evils of terrorism and extremism,” he said.
The Foreign Minister stated that the Kingdom has been at the forefront of global efforts to counter terrorism and combat extremism, explaining that Saudi Arabia believes in the importance of adopting a comprehensive approach based on international legitimacy, that can protect the lives of innocent people, and preserve the sovereignty, security and stability of states.
He indicated that the Kingdom contributed $110 million to establish the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Center, which provides important support to UN Members States, including in the Sahel.
He also affirmed that, based on the Kingdom's historical partnership with members of the Coalition of Sahel Countries and its beliefs in the group’s vital role in combating terrorism, is keen to provide support and technical assistance to the G5 Sahel in countering terrorism and its financing.
